REI - Cuba has been fielding medical teams in Cuba since 2000. Those teams have opened many doors and built a reputation that is the foundation of our work to this day.

Medicine is certainly one of the strategic sectors of a nation. The attention to health care shows how much a nation values its people. Many of the country's best and brightest students go into medicine out of compassion for their people, accepting the challenge of years of study and preparation. In Cuba they provide amazing service despite their lack of funds and resources. It's a privilege to come alongside such intelligent and committed doctors to help them do what they do a little bit better. We share knowledge and skills, to be sure, but also perspective and encouragement from years of experience. Our doctors often say that they receive back even more than they give.
